Inequality and Harvard

Join Zoom meeting. Meeting ID: 968 8958 3349 Password: 293208

Join us for a thoughtful discussion with Dr. Anthony Abraham Jack PhD ’16, Assistant Professor of Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (and author of The Privileged Poor: How Elite Colleges Are Failing Disadvantaged Students) on the role of Harvard in perpetuating inequity, and how we as alumni can be part of creating a better future for Harvard and for our broader society.

Attendees are encouraged to read The Privileged Poor (check for eBooks and audiobooks through your local library!). Alternatively, we also welcome attendees to watch Dr. Jack’s TED Talk, read his New York Times article on A Separate and Unequal System of College Admissions, and/or read his New York Times Magazine piece entitled I Was a Low-Income College Student. Classes Weren’t the Hard Part.

But if you don’t have time for any of the above, don’t let that stop you from joining! This isn’t section and no one will be cold-calling you to call you out for not doing the reading — by virtue of having gone to Harvard you have relevant insight on these topics, and we just look forward to an open and interesting discussion!
